This 12 - piece band includes some of the best jazz musicians in Devon that
Lewis has been working with regularly over many years in small and big bands,
many of whom have appeared as band leaders themselves at the Teignmouth
Jazz Festival in the past. The repertoire consists of about 50% original
material, and the remainder, Lewis' arrangements of standard and Latin American
tunes.
The band has appeared at both The Royal Seven Stars Hotel and Ariel Centre
in Totnes, as part of the Totnes Jazz Collective's regular programme, as
well the Flavel in Dartmouth , and most recently at the 2007 Salcombe festival,
all attracting good audiences and favourable comment. Lewis Riley was born
in Lancashire, but has lived in Devon for nearly thirty years. He has led
many jazz bands from trios to big bands, and has been awarded Lottery money
for working in schools on Jazz in education projects. Lewis also administers
the successful "SaMS" Saturday Music School at KEVICC, where he runs two
jazz bands, and is an associate lecturer at Dartington College of Arts.
