The band was founded in 1994 by veteran trombonist and antique dealer, (hence the name!) Keith Hockin, who began his career in the Nottingham area in the 1960's playing with the bands of Eric Peat and Brian Woolley. Keith was instrumental in bringing together the original line-up but the current line up is ;-
Chris Mercer (trumpet), Chris Pearce (reeds), Richard Leach (trombone), Clinton Sedgley (banjo and guitar), Andy Robbins (bass) and Graham Smith (drums). The band's development has been aided by changes in personnel and the present line-up came together in the autumn of 2005. They are currently one of the busiest bands on the circuit.
The Antique Six produce a swinging sound that owes something to Dixieland, without the raving. They happily tackle a fair mix of titles on their own merits, giving the tunes the right mood all the way, some of which are well away from the standard titles. All in all, a well performed, tuneful collection that, like Mansion Polish, puts a shine on the antiques!"
