Inner Space Music, the original and acclaimed quartet project of trumpeter/composer Loz Speyer, featuring F-ire Collective saxophonist Rachel Musson. The band takes improvisational music into new and different territory with each composition with title such as Rocket Science, Deep Sea Spirit, and From A to B to Infinity... The five musical sketches Bird, Tiger, Deer, Bear and Monkey, which form the centrepiece of the album Five Animal Dances, attempt to translate into sound the essential vitality and playfulness of the Five Animals Qigong practise, originally designed by Taoist masters to train and cultivate the pure Chi energy in body, mind and spirit.

"Sophisticated and harmonically intriguing.”
John Fordham, The Guardian (live review)

"Wonderfully vigorous, sprightly music, packed with unexpected felicities of texture and timbre, and infused with bustling, fiercely interactive energy. Recommended.”
Chris Parker www.vortexjazz.co.uk

“…at the interface between composition and improvisation Inner Space Music strike just the right balance... Speyer has a way with a tune and the quality of the writing ensures that the music always remains accessible The playing from all parties is superb throughout, warm, agile, inventive and technically brilliant. Highly recommended.”

Jon Fry -
Acoustic Guitar

Tim Miller -
Acoustic Guitar

The idea that originally inspired Tim and Jon to form ‘Gadjo Guitares’ was to explore the repertoire for two acoustic guitars and to include music from multiple genres - Jazz, Classical, Flamenco Americano, Latin American & Manouche.

Jon Fry - Acoustic Guitar
Jon has been a guitarist/music writer for most of his career, touring the UK with progressive bands ‘In Watermelon Sugar’ and ‘The Connection’ and doing session work for music production companies and television. About 15 years ago, he was introduced to the legacy of wonderful guitar players inspired by ‘Django Reinhardt’. This, combined with an interest in all things ‘jazz and improvisation’, has led him to his current musical juncture.

Tim Miller - Acoustic Guitar
Tim (24) got his first guitar when he was 15. Early influences were his sister’s violin playing and 70’s ‘progressive rock’ bands. Tim’s music is varied and eclectic. His college band ‘La Gitane Branche’ reflected an interest in European Gypsy music and culture. When he’s not performing with ‘Gadjo Guitares’, Tim can be heard playing with neo-progressive rock band ‘Progatron’.

Ira Mogilevsky - Piano
Björn Dahlberg - Sax
Markus Hängsel - Bass
Vlad Nedelin - Drums

Nybakat! goes "beyond jazz" and mixing it with everything from folk music to... you name it.(listen here) In Nybakat's music you will find colors and spices of Flamenco, Boogi- Woogi, Contemporary Improvised Music, Swedish polska, Jewish klezmer, classical music and more.

The debut CD Nybakat! (Mindoors Music 2007) presents "fresh baked" approach to the mixture of scandinavian folk music and jazz: original interpretations of famous Scandinavian folk songs, Swedish “visor”, psalms and own compositions inspired by folk music from around the world.

The second CD Happy Land (Mindoors Music 2010) is consisting of twelve cross - genre original compositions written by all four members of the band. It's neither jazz and nor folk anymore - just a musical journey with no style definition. The facets of this musical kaleidoscope are finely glued together with bold melodic lines, energetic folk-based grooves and dynamic composition. The result is an adventure - full of colors and fantasy.

All the band members have jazz background, but each one brings his own experience from different music genres:

Björn Dahlberg is playing Swedish, Bulgarian and African Music and also touring around the world with pop groups.
Vlad Nedelin was a percussion player in Irish, Balkan bands. Besides his career as a jazz drummer he played indie-rock, fusion and musicals.
Ira Mogilevsky was raised on classical music, but played many styles from pop to "avant-guard".
Markus Hängsel is leading a punk-jazz band and playing Hip-Hop, Salsa.

Such a variety of musical influences and cultural backgrounds adds colors, surprises and freshness to the sound of Nybakat!. The result is an interesting mosaic in which strong rhythmical energy of jazz merges naturally with simple, recognizable folk melodies; unlimited freedom of improvisation intertwines with nearly classical approach to the composition and arrangement; odd ethnic meters get along with simplicity of "pop" beats.
