 exist to help young musicians learn about, develop skills in and increase their appreciation of big band music. Members have the opportunity to play music in a wide range of styles, from swing to be-bop, from latin to funk. A key activity is improvisation: band members are encouraged to express their musical ideas through a graded programme of workshops, and will be given opportunities to try out their ideas in concerts. Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra encorporates junior and senior sections of the orchestra (DYJO1 & DYJO2)
(Trumpet) has for many years been a key member of the Alan Barnes group; as well as with the BBC Big Band the Scottish Radio Orchestra.
