is a band of Britain's foremost jazz musicians, specialising in music of the 1920's and 30's. All have played with a selection of Britain’s top-class bands, some of them since the late sixties. You will notice, however, that they also have some fine young musicians in the band, keeping the standard of classic jazz flying for a new generation.
Megs Etherington is joined in the frontline by Chris Lowe and Zoe Lambeth. The rhythm section is made up of Steve Davis, Martin Litton and Debbie Arthurs. The band is full of energy, exuberance and delights in playing wonderful tunes and silly songs. The players are inspired by the humour and showmanship of the great bands of the classic jazz era.
Hokum has performed to packed audiences at many British Jazz Festivals and appears for us in its sextet form. Making their third appearance at Teignmouth Jazz Festival they intend, as usual, to “Entertain you Severely!!!”. We hope you will once again enjoy the unique Hokum experience.
