Steve Tromans is a composer, pianist, arranger and researcher who graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in 1997 with first class honours. Since then he has gained equal recognition as a bandleader in his own right and as a sideman in a variety of nationally acclaimed ensembles, performing in concerts and festivals across the UK, the Republic of Ireland and Europe, plus tours and special performances in India, Bangladesh, Japan, the Middle East and Italy, with a life-changing extended period of sabbatical in Mongolia. Steve will be performing original solo piano improvisations from his songbook Jewel in the Lotus.

"Fearlessly exploring the margins of regular jazz and free-improv."
John Fordham, The Guardian Pick of the Week

"Vital, passionate, fresh...great musicianship."
Keith Tippett

"Skillful, unique and startling."
