Give me sunshine
It’s a big year for us in Teignmouth as we are celebrating thirty years of bringing you hundreds of wonderful bands over an era of big changes in music.
So this year we enter our new era with a bang and some big changes.
Number 1 is that after many years of sloshing around in the wind, rain and darkness we have talked to local business and our fans and have had a light bulb moment. So this year we are moving into October into sunshine, warmth and longer days which we feel will raise the feel good factor as well as allow us to spill on to the streets as well as still staging acts in our familiar indoor venues.
Not only that but we are on a mission to popularise jazz and blues so we will be extending our range of music to include the wider jazz and blues genre so expect some soul, funk and R&B, jump jive and even Afro-beat on the menu. We would love to see you dancing in the streets.
But don’t worry we will be still keeping the main stream. British Jazz is booming at the moment and we are busy booking bands at the moment and there are some exciting prospects including some of the superb young emerging bands and more singers.
We are also on a big fundraising campaign. According to our successes we aim to be able to afford some big names and brighten up the town with music, buskers and bunting.
Like any charity we rely on volunteers and we are actively recruiting new committee members and volunteers. The more we have the more we can do. Already this year attracted several new committee members who are all ‘can do people’. Although music is at the centre of what we do, remember also that at the end of the day the Festival is simply an event that needs people to help. Musical knowledge is not a requisite but what is are the skills and expertise that contribute to any successful event. We would love to meet you so If you are interested then just e-mail and we will get back to you.
